10 Tips to Enjoy Gili Air Like a Local

I came to Gili Air nearly 10 years ago, and I immediately fell in love with this stunning and peaceful island. With white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, palm tree plantations, and the view of the majestic Mount Rinjani in Lombok, Gili Air had my heart from day one. These are just some of the reasons why I have settled here, and why every day I keep falling in love with this place. My wish is for you to explore the best of what Gili Air has to offer, so you can see the magic that I found in this place. Download our Travel Like a Local - Ebook 2020 by Gili Travel Agency here, to explore the best of what Gili Air has to offer! 1. NIGHT ACTION FAVORITES One of my favorite things to do when the sun has set in Gili Air is to visit the amazing Pura Vida. On Sundays they have Live Reggae Music, which you can enjoy on their beachfront restaurant just next to the ocean. Let the moonlight shine while this wonderful Reggae band light up your night. See if you can sit still or if the great vibe brings you to dance in the [...]

24 Hours in Gili for New Years

What happens in Gili for New Year’s? The people of Gili are naturally party people. The Gili islands are known to be THE party destination of Indonesia. Are you spending your holidays in Gili? Are you still wondering where to spend your holidays? Search no more, the answer is Gili! To start New Years Eve celebrations, for sunset, at Lucky’s Bar. Its one of the best places, this time of the year, to watch the sunset in Gili Air. Every year the beach is packed with party people, families, local people, all gather together on the beach to watch the last sunset of the year. It has a bit the same vibe as Ibiza, a few years ago. We are all smiling, looking in eachothers eyes and watching the sun set, in the ocean, for the last time in 2017. Puts a smile on my face, just thinking about it, doesn’t it? Once the sun sets, after the colours have gone from red, to orang, purple, blue, to announce the arrival of the night. I’d hop on a bycicle and cycle to Camila Beach Club. They have prepared an exquisite menu for the New Year.

If you wonder how, it’s quite simple: respect her and take care of her… just as she takes care of you. Life is a Circus

A retreat with a difference… The time has come to erase all the things you thought you knew about the ‘Circus’. It’s time to redefine the concept you had about Bali and Gili Air. Now is the time to dream about a place where peace, nature, purity and sharing are the only clues. A place where enjoying yourself as you learn new fitness concepts, and learning to be proud of your own body and it’s limitless power, are the only rules. Are you ready for that? Forget about what you thought the ‘Circus’ was. Forget about sad clowns, unhealthy and caged animals…and think about brightness, colour, laughter, acrobats, juggling artists, yogis, and the most lovely and wonderful people you could imagine. Forget about the crowded, sad, modern, over developed and touristy parts of Bali. Forget about noise, motorbikes, gas and pollution. Think about white sand, barefoot walks, sunsets and sunshine on paradise-like beaches while you listen to a music that will connect your soul to your body like it never has before. Have you ever dreamed about becoming an acrobat, or learning to do Hoola Hoop or Juggling? Would you love to know how to give the best massages, how make your Pilates routine more effective, or how to dance like crazy during an ‘Ecstatic dance’ after fuelling your body with the best organic […]

Slow Retreats – Gili Cooking Classes

Indonesian cuisine is one of the most vibrant and colourful cuisines in the world, full of intense flavour. It is diverse, in part because Indonesia is composed of approximately 6,000 populated islands of the total 18,000 in the world’s largest archipelago, with more than 300 ethnic groups calling Indonesia their home. Many regional cuisines exist, often based upon indigenous culture and foreign influences. Indonesia has around 5,350 traditional recipes, with 30 of them considered the most important.[3] Indonesia cuisine may include rice, noodle and soup dishes in warungs (local modest shops) to street-side snacks and top-dollar plates. During our Slow Retreats, we like to offer some afternoon included but not mandatory Gili activities. We believe getting to know the locals and there culture is important. At Slow we want to introduce you to the Indonesian locals, they’re calm and have a generous heart. ⭐️ The cooking class is next to Gili Air’s harbour. There are a variety of menu’s you can choose from. After cooking, lets eat! Another great activity ❤️ Bon appetit!
