24 Hours in Gili for New Years

What happens in Gili for New Year's?  The people of Gili are naturally party people. The Gili islands are known to be THE party destination of Indonesia.  Are you spending your holidays in Gili? Are you still wondering where to spend your holidays?  Search no more, the answer is Gili! To start New Years Eve celebrations, for sunset, at Lucky's Bar. Its one of the best places, this time of the year, to watch the sunset in Gili Air. Every year the beach is packed with party people, families, local people, all gather together on the beach to watch the last sunset of the year. It has a bit the same vibe as Ibiza, a few years ago.  We are all smiling, looking in eachothers eyes and watching the sun set, in the ocean, for the last time in 2017. Puts a smile on my face, just thinking about it, doesn't it? Once the sun sets, after the colours have gone from red, to orang, purple, blue, to announce the arrival of the night. I'd hop on a bycicle and cycle to Camila Beach Club. They have prepared an exquisite menu for the New Year.  They make their own home-made limoncello! […]

A beautifully chic boutique….

Spending a couple of days, weeks…or even your life on Gili Air means a lot of different beautiful things to each individual. One of the most precious feelings that you get here is the deep connection to her grounds, nature, rhythm, beaches, local people and culture…And one of the most important things you can do on Gili is give back everything the island gives to you. If you wonder how, it’s quite simple: respect her and take care of her… just as she takes care of you. At Slow Villas and Spa, we constantly aspire to follow these values, in every action we take, every service we offer and every magical holiday experience that we help create. That’s why we are so proud and excited to announce the recent opening of our own little shopping corner: Slow Shop. If you visit us you will discover our ecofriendly, locally produced, artistically inspired, lovely selection of unique gifts and memorabilia; clothes, accessories, artworks, sasak weaving, kitchenware, jewellery and swimwear. Each piece represents our ethos and spirit, each piece is created by people and brands that we connect with personally. Some items are truly indigenous crafts from Lombok and Bali, made by local people using […]

Slow Retreats – Gili Cooking Classes

Indonesian cuisine is one of the most vibrant and colourful cuisines in the world, full of intense flavour. It is diverse, in part because Indonesia is composed of approximately 6,000 populated islands of the total 18,000 in the world's largest archipelago, with more than 300 ethnic groups calling Indonesia their home. Many regional cuisines exist, often based upon indigenous culture and foreign influences. Indonesia has around 5,350 traditional recipes, with 30 of them considered the most important.[3] Indonesia cuisine may include rice, noodle and soup dishes in warungs (local modest shops) to street-side snacks and top-dollar plates. During our Slow Retreats, we like to offer some afternoon included but not mandatory Gili activities. We believe getting to know the locals and there culture is important. At Slow we want to introduce you to the Indonesian locals, they're calm and have a generous heart. ⭐️ The cooking class is next to Gili Air's harbour. There are a variety of menu's you can choose from. After cooking, lets eat! Another great activity ❤️ Bon appetit!
